Exploratory Research

Content Auditing

During this stage I conducted a comprehensive audit of all existing content on the website. This involved investigating current web pages, blog posts, images, videos, or other content elements.  After evaluating each piece of content, I identified what content is performing well, what needs updating, and what can be removed entirely.

The website's current SEO performance is non-existing. There is no connection between the visual media, and the business’ goals. The overall function is non-existent. Outlined below are the apparent changes I addressed with my client.

Competitive Analysis

I researched different competitive companies and their websites to understand their strengths and weaknesses. We identified 5 different competitors in the local N. Virginia area, ABC Therapy Services, XYZ Behavioral Health, Autism Solutions Group, Northern VA Autism Center, Behavioral Connections. Navigating through each site I noted elements that can be incorporated into the redesign and found inspiration for varying alternatives in order to stay competitive.

Luckily I was able to set up interviews with  a few friends, family members and even one of Barbra current clients.  Each participant must meet a certain criteria in order to be interviewed. If you’ve been a care-taker of or have any-age dependents diagnosed on the autistic spectrum, and have ever sought out therapy services.

These interviews were a blast. I appreciate this part of my job the most because you get to connect with actual people utilizing the services you’re improving. This is an opportunity to give a voice to the masses. An opportunity to hear and address concerns head on. Creating a better digital space for our increasing community.
